Chapter 1
  • Did Four-Eyes have a family he worked for or a land owner?
  • Why is Four-Eyes so defensive over his "secret books"?
  • Where does Luo get his cigarettes?
Chapter 2
  • Why did the narrator feel jealousy over The Little Seamstress and Luo? Did he also like The Little Seamstress?
  • What was the point for the narrator to write on his jacket? Could he get in trouble if someone found that?
  • Why did Luo keep the bloody leaves? Shouldn't he have kept it a secret? Could he and The Little Seamstress get in trouble for what they had done?
  • What do you suppose were the narrators feelings after Luo telling him what happened?
